Bills Introduced – 02-25-13

The first day back in Washington and the House and Senate are down to a more normal number of bills introduced on Monday, 16 in the House and 5 in the Senate. Two of the House bills may be of interest to readers of this blog:

HR 804 Latest Title: To cancel the 251A sequester for the revised security category and to provide for a reduced spending plan with respect to the Department of Defense, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Rep Coffman, Mike (R,CO)

HR 809 Latest Title: To provide for improvement of field emergency medical services, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Rep Bucshon, Larry (R,IN)

It is hard to tell from the brief information currently available if either of these bills will really be of interest. The reduced spending plan in HR 804 could potentially affect cyber-operations in DOD. I can think of plenty of ways that improvements in field emergency medical services would be of direct benefit to chemical emergencies at both fixed sites and transportation incidents. We’ll just have to wait and see what the actual language of the bills contain.
